Job Purpose:
- In charge of overseeing and coordinating NMB’s sustainability program effectively. They will also serve as a crucial program interface for both internal and external stakeholders, and they will be a valuable asset in guaranteeing ongoing adherence to national and international laws, policies, and reporting requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee the creation of the bank’s yearly sustainability report in accordance with established reporting guidelines.
- To achieve the company’s ESG and sustainability goals, organize the creation of a practical sustainability plan and specify precise rules and regulations.
- Monitor ESG pledges and organizational measuring metrics.
- Emphasize potential within the company by spearheading corporate sustainability programs and tactics.
- Encourage the creation of long-term and annual sustainable development goals and establish goals based on science.
- Create procedures for reporting on sustainability.
- Make sure that procedures are in place to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, license requirements, and international environmental standards regarding ESG and climate risk.
- Interact with the larger sustainability community to exchange best practices and form alliances.
- Advising and imparting knowledge and experience to bank stakeholders.
- Establish strategic alliances and initiatives to help the bank achieve its goals for sustainability and climate change.
- On sustainability-related issues, such as best practices, new concerns, and benchmarking, promptly support the company, the audit, the risk management and sustainability committee, the board, and the executive.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough comprehension of the rules pertaining to financial risks associated with climate change
- Financial Reporting in Compliance with TFRS1 and Additional Guidelines
- Technical understanding of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards-compliant financial disclosure (IFRS S1)
- Understanding the framework of laws and regulations pertaining to sustainability standards
- Technical expertise in financial analysis and finance.
- Proficiency in Sustainability Reporting and Analytics
- Outstanding writing abilities and persuasive public speaking
- According to Tanzania Financial Reporting Standards 1 (TFRS1), reporting abilities
- Outstanding stakeholder and interpersonal management abilities, as well as the capacity and assurance to communicate with people from different backgrounds and with different kinds of organizations.
- The capacity to interact with the board and management in an effective manner.
- The capacity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in business studies, accounting, finance, sustainability, environmental science, law, or a related discipline
- Two years of familiarity with international environmental frameworks and standards, including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), IFRS, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It will be beneficial to have worked with BI and Dynamics for at least two years. - Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis, ideally in conjunction with sustainability reporting experience.
- Technical and demonstrated expertise in financial disclosure on climate-related risks and opportunities in accordance with IFRS S2.
