Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Oversee and assist both Activity 1 and Activity 2 in order to lead Strategic Outcome 1. Effective collaboration, technical assistance, planning, and execution of capacity-building projects to improve government systems’ readiness and response to disasters through DRR, social protection, anticipatory action, and associated programs with the government and other stakeholders, such as UN agencies and non-governmental organizations
- creation of DRM initiatives that connect to anticipatory action and social protection in order to guarantee coordinated interventions.
- Through PMO-DMD, assist in the planning of simulation exercises and the creation of contingency plans for a variety of catastrophes, including floods, droughts, and epidemics, under the direction of the government.
- Contribute technical expertise to the evaluation and development of DRR, social protection, agriculture, and food security policies and strategies.
- Create funded proposals for SO1 to spearhead the resource mobilization process and guarantee timely, high-quality reporting for both technical and financial elements.
- Effectively engage in UNSDCF procedures, such as creating a Joint Work Plan (JWP) under the appropriate Outcome Group or groups.
- Participate in and contribute technical expertise to the working groups of the donors, particularly the UN Emergency Coordination Group (ECG), DPG Agriculture, and DPG Environment.
- Take part in reviewing a range of pertinent internal and external papers, such as funding requests, research, assessments, and appraisals.
- As needed, offer assistance with program management tasks.
Education:
A master’s degree in a social science, such as agriculture, economics, DR management (DRM), social protection, environmental sciences, or community development, or, in the event that the candidate lacks a master’s degree, at least eight to ten years of relevant experience.
Experience:
More than five years of post-graduate training and expertise in program administration. Experience with disaster response and preparedness, including coordination and management of DRM, social protection, anticipatory action, refugees, and/or related technical programs, is required. Strong team and project management skills, as well as documented experience working with government, UN, and NGO partners, are prerequisites.
Knowledge and Skills:
