Responsibilities
- Adhere to all applicable safety, occupational health, and environmental policies, as well as other pertinent policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes using the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), reporting incidents and accidents, and attending mandatory safety meetings and courses.
- To meet production and cost goals, perform all welding repairs and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Reading, interpreting, and gaining access to job descriptions and pertinent data
- Making certain that the materials chosen for inspection, replacement, and repair meet the necessary requirements
- For safe operation, choose the appropriate hand power tools, welding equipment, thermal cutting equipment, thermal heating equipment, and safety equipment.
- Employing thermal gouging, thermal heating, and oxyacetylene welding and cutting.
- Finishing the work orders and job cards for basic welding, heating, and cutting, as well as the hot work permit
- When necessary, help other mechanical craftsmen with maintenance tasks.
- Keep the shaft mechanical supervisor and all parties involved updated on the status of the equipment’s availability.
- Perform any additional tasks that the shaft mechanical supervisor assigns you within your capabilities without endangering your health and safety.
- Observe additional maintenance protocols as well as safe work practices.
- Inspection of both winders every day
- Inspection of the loading pocket infrastructure and underground tipping grizzly every day
- Report on the shaft infrastructure every day.
Qualififacations:
- Certificate of Ordinary Level: Form IV
- Certificates of fabrication and welding (FTC, IMTT, & VETA)
Experience required:
- Having worked in mining locations for at least three years and being able to work underground
Skills/Knowledge required:
- Outstanding written and spoken English communication skillsIdentification of hazards and evaluation of risksAwareness of the Mine Health & Safety Act
