Pangani/Tanga is home to the NGO UZIKWASA. Through collaboration with partners, leadership commitment, and bolstering voices in rural communities, the group has been promoting social change for over twenty years. Gender justice, gender-based violence, violence against children, and the effects of climate change on women’s equality are the primary program areas of UZIKWASA. In order to encourage social and cultural norms that deter gender-based violence and violence against children, our program incorporates transformative leadership trainings through reflective approaches and multimedia campaigns. The majority of the Tanga region is served by Pangani FM, a radio station owned and operated by UZIKWASA. Additionally, we collaborate with institutional partners throughout Tanzania to disseminate the knowledge gained via reflective leadership development techniques and offer assistance in creating a change-oriented organizational culture. The company employs 32 highly qualified staff members, including 10 journalists, 11 certified facilitators of organizational learning and development, and support, finance, and administration professionals.
Job Title: Accountant
To help with financial planning and operationalization, the accountant collaborates closely with the program personnel and the finance manager. The candidate must actively participate in UZIKWASA’s learning activities, team-building exercises, and reflective performance reviews in order to demonstrate their commitment to a culture of learning and personal development.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
A bachelor’s degree in finance, auditing, accounting, or a similar discipline. A minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification experience as an accountant or finance professional is required, as is possession of an ACA, ACCA, or CPA certificate. It is ideal to have a thorough understanding of Tanzania’s tax rules and regulations in addition to experience with donor funding and NGO accounting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required, as well as familiarity with Quick Books and/or other commercially available accounting software.
