The candidate’s duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to): 

  1. Assist in managing proper vehicle scheduling and dispatch, efficient asset utilization and route planning, vehicle inspection and maintenance, real-time vehicle location tracking, vehicle performance monitoring, record keeping, and improvement.
  2. Assist in monitoring, correcting, and improving driving behaviors and operations; mentoring and coaching drivers; assisting in recruitment; disciplining; evaluating drivers’ performance; and setting driving schedules with the fleet manager in coordination with the operations requirements.
  3. Assist in tracking driver attendance, health, and other statuses, ensuring drivers adherence to DCG policies and applicable government labor laws and transport regulations.
  4. Assist in providing route and operations information and technologies, maintaining constant communication with the technical manager, fleet manager, drivers, operators, and the operations team.
  5. Reports to fleet managers on issues and bottlenecks detected in fleet operations, fleet performance and expenses, budgets, major purchases, and costs of fleet operations.
  6. Assist in planning and setting fleet-level targets, coordinate with other departments, train drivers and operators on risk management protocols, safety standards, overspeeding, excessive idling, overstaying, truck turnarounds, and more.
  7. Assist in overseeing and scheduling vehicle inspection, maintenance, and servicing to minimize downtime; maintain all vehicle information and inspection records; develop functional, profit-maximizing driver and operator schedules and routes; and ensure that drivers and operators follow their designated working hours.
  • Helps on reducing unnecessary expenses and increasing fuel efficiency, securing the fleet’s compliance with applicable regulations, guaranteeing excellent fleet service, analyzing fleet performance data, and improving accordingly, reporting fleet performance and finances to the fleet manager.
  • Report all major and minor issues immediately to the fleet manager on breakdowns, damages to property and/or equipment, lost or missing parts of any equipment verbally and in writing, and other issues affecting the day-to-day productivity of all equipment and follow up on the progress.
  • Ensure maintenance records for equipment are accurate and up to date.
  • Utilize and maintain the specified fleet management information system, the AFRITRACK System, to effectively monitor and report on the fleet program.
  • Work collaboratively to contribute to supporting the achievement of the technical department’s and organization’s business goals.
  • Manage and monitor the whereabouts of equipment and make reports as required for day-to-day operations of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Assist in preparing reports that detail fleet inventory, maintenance, costs, performance, and efficiencies for the fleet manager on a weekly basis.
  • Provide advice and share knowledge and information with work team members on fleet and technical issues.
  • Take any tasks or projects that will benefit the company’s operations and growth, especially those related to the technical department.

Requirements for a Fleet Supervisor:

  1. The candidate must hold an advanced diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, transport management, supply chain, business administration, or a related field.
  2. An additional certificate in fleet management or defensive driving will be an added advantage.
  3. Not less than 3 years of experience in fleet supervision, logistics, or transport management in a logistics company.
  4. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance schedules and compliance with transport regulations.
  5. Problem solving and decision-making.
  6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Computer skills.

Remuneration.

A competitive package with statutory benefits as per the law. The contract is for two (2) years, renewable upon successful performance.
